Nobody has actually walked on the dark side of the moon, but the Apollo missions needed to “slingshot” around the moon to get home – astronauts on board would have been able to see it!

We should call it the far side of the moon because it does become light when it is in the Sun, but we just dont get to see that happen 🙂
Yes, Adam told me earlier this week that some astronauts had to orbit the moon in order to get home, so they didnt land on the far side but they did orbit it!

The farthest that any human has travelled is the far side of the Moon, in orbit around the Moon. Remember though, that the side of the Moon that we never see is not literally dark – it gets as much light as the rest of the Moon – we just never see it. When you see a slim, crescent Moon, most of the far side of the Moon is lit. when you see a Full Moon, the far side is actually dark.
