I do! I think we would be silly to think we were the only things in this universe, because it is just so huge. I have a feeling that we are not alone in our own Solar System to be honest. I’m not imaging little green men, more like little green bugs! There are quite a few moons with liquid oceans on them orbiting Jupiter and Saturn and I wouldn’t be suprised to find out that these oceans have microbes swimming in them! We know that extremophiles can exist in weird places on Earth, so why not in the Solar System too? I have a feeling that you guys will be the generation who actually find ETs too….rather exciting!

I don’t believe in them but I think it is unlikely that we are the only civilisation in the universe

I think they are probably out there. Over the past 15 years we have found that planets are probably very common in the Universe. There are hundreds of billions of stars in the galaxy, and that probably means there are tens of billions of planets. Even if the chance of life arising is very small, it has billions of chances for it to do so – and there have been billions of years for that to happen. If I were to bet on it, I’d say there are aliens out there somewhere. Whether they look, act or think like we do, I don’t suppose we’ll ever know.

I do believe there must be life somewhere out there in the galaxy, perhaps life like our own. I don’t however believe that we have been visited by aliens – I think the distance between planets are far too great. I would love for an alien to land in my back garden tomorrow though, as it would open up a whole new world of possibilities for mankind!

Given how many planets there are around other stars that we’ve observered so far, I think it’s pretty likely that somewhere out there the conditions are right for life. The question for me, though, is whether they would have a civilisation at the same time as ours… so that we could communicate?
