  Well our Sun is one big fusion reactor so we know it works in principle. There is an experiment in the US this year [International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor: ITER] that will hopefully be sucessful giving good data on how to develop commercial reactors but it’s a long way to go but more than possible in my opinion
