A fun question. If an advanced race had the capability to travel the vast distance to the Solar System and the Earth then perhaps they’d have the ability to walk amongst us unnoticed. So I may have met an alien. I used to say my Mum was one.

We’re all aliens! So yes, I have met one :p Current theory suggests that life giving organisms piggy backed their way to Earth on a comet. When the comet crashed onto the surface of our planet, the ice melted, releasing these “building blocks” of life. If that is true, we’re all aliens!

If it isn’t true, then the only alien I’ve met is the one who looks at me in the mirror at 8am when I’ve just woken up 😉

Can’t be sure, I’m pretty certain that they would disguise themselves well on this planet… the closest I’ve come is knowing Julian Assange who I studied with at university in Melbourne… (just kidding… he’s not an alien!)

I think the safest answer here would be: not to my knowledge. Over the past 15 years we have found that planets are probably very common in the Universe. There are hundreds of billions of stars in the galaxy, and that probably means there are tens of billions of planets. Even if the chance of life arising is very small, it has billions of chances for it to do so – and there have been billions of years for that to happen. If I were to bet on it, I’d say there are aliens out there somewhere. Whether they look, act or think like we do, I don’t suppose we’ll ever know.

Hi Laura! The only alien I have met was called Ziltoid, but I think he might have been a puppet! I would love for alien life to be discovered while I’m alive, and I think that the scientists looking for planets in other solar system (called exoplanets – short for extra-solar planets) are finding some really interesting alien worlds. None of them are like our Earth though, and are either too hot or too cold for life like ours to live on them. I do often wonder though – if aliens exist, would they look like us or would they be completely different?
