I believe there are acids in the stomach that break the food down, but I’m a physicist, so I’m just going off my general knowledge!

Through processes of chewing (in your mouth), being broken down by acids (in your stomach), and then absorbed (in your intestines).

I think the stomach disolves food using acid, then the sludge moves along the intestines and as it does the ‘good stuff’ is absorbed thru the walls of the intestines and is used where necessary, and the waste goes out the other end 😀

Enzymes/bacteria in your digestive tract effectively suck out all the good stuff in your food and then the rest to carries on out the other end. Your stomach starts the whole process off my using acid to break down the food you swallow.
