Well I started studying science at university in 2002 and my first ‘research’ project was in 2003/2004 over the summer (Aussie summer, that is!), I then did more research in 2005 (European summer, this time) and then since then I’ve been doing science just about all the time. Hope that answers your question, feel free to ask more!

Technically I’ve been doing science all my life! We do science (sometimes without realising it) every day.
From walking at the best speed for the length of your legs, to using your mobile phone, to playing a CD or the piano….all those things can be explained by science (especially physics).

We did science at school, I chose it for GCSEs and did Physics and Chemistry at A level, then carried on doing science for the next 8 years at Uni. I hope to continue into a scientific career after my PhD too, so hopefully I’ll do science for the rest of my life!

I started my astrophysics degree in 2000 and my PhD in 2006, but I’ve always been interested in how things work and tried to figure them out.

I think I might be the baby of the group – I’ve been doing my PhD for 3 years, and before that I was doing my degree (which took four years), so not very long! I’ve learned so much in such a short time though!
