There is a long way to go in the area of networking and the web. I think we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg in terms of what the Internet has to offer. The other big one ought to be developments in energy – nuclear and solar power as well as recycling. Its hard to predict the future though – mostly things work out differently to how people expect – just watch any old movies set in ‘the future’.

I’d like to see Fusion power developed – it would mean a huge change to how we produce energy, as it would be a clean, safe way to power our world without endangering people from radiation leaks with nuclear power, or poisoning our atmosphere with fossil fuels. These reactors would run on dueterium which is a form of hydrogen with a proton and a neutron in it’s core – it occurs in sea water, 1 in every 6000 sea water molecules has one. We could probably power the world for around 100,000 years with the stuff in the sea alone! I think it would solve a lot of the crisis we have for energy demands.

Wow that’s a big question. I don’t think we can predict what they will be, just thinking about the HUGE developments that have been made in the past century. But I think there are some big challenges in medicine, energy and security which we have to face. Energy is definitely one of the top ones and I’d love to see Fusion power as soon as possible! I think we also need to develop as a society though, work to eradicate poverty and have a greater understanding of our impact on the environment.
