I think they are rubbish. We totally did land on the Moon in the 60s and 70s. I’ve met astronauts and I know for sure that humans have been in space! I hope I am next 😀

I think it’s incredibly sad how powerful conspiracy theories are. Whether is the Moon landings, the Twin Towers or the death of Princess Diana – people seem to want to believe in conspiracies for some reason. You can actually see the stuff we left on the Moon in photos being taken by orbiters (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/LRO/multimedia/lroimages/apollosites.html). We have pieces of the Moon that they bought back. It is ridiculous to think that such a conspiracy would even have been possible.

      Thanks for your question.
This, to be completely honest, is what I think:

If you had been involved in a programme which cost $24 billion, took decades to come to fruition and worked with thousands of other people on something which, quite literally, changed our view of the world… would you want someone to turn around and try and say it had never happened?

I think the conspiracy theorists are not just ignorant but downright rude to even begin to doubt the AWESOME achievement of getting to and *walking on* the moon. That’s not to say you shouldn’t view the world with a healthy skepticism, but it makes my blood boil that this achievement, probably the greatest thing ever done by the human race, is actually doubted! Makes me sick.

I don’t think this is the place to go through a detailed rebuttal of the conspiracy theories but I get the impression that most of them are pretty laughable.

It makes me sad that in this day and age conspiracy theories like this actually get believed, but unfortunately this is the age of the internet and it’s all too easy for ideas like that to catch on. Don’t even get me started on homeopathy… as a scientist and a rational person, sometimes things like this make me depressed about the state of the world!

I think that the conspiracy theories are probably not true – I think considering the amount of evidence there is, there is very little substantial against it. There were not just hundreds, but thousands of people working on the Apollo projects – I think it would be very hard for that many people to keep a lie going for this long.

The astronauts brough back rock that cannot be found on the earth. The spacecraft were tracked. It’s a big secret if it was a fake. Some people see conspiracy in everything.
