The highlight of my career so far… that’s a big question. I thought it was the highlight when I got to go and spend time working at CERN when I was a student. But then I thought it was the highlight when I got into Oxford to do my PhD. Since then I thought it was the highlight being awarded a prestigious fellowship so I can pursue my research, and right now I think the highlight will be having dinner with HRH Prince Phillip tomorrow night (no, really, I am!). It looks like things just keep getting better, so I’ve no doubt if you ask me in a few years I’ll have a new highlight to add to the list!
Going observing on Mauna Kea, using a massive telescope was amazing. I ended in hospital with altitude sickness but never-the-less it was a key moment in my life. Standing on top of the world, staring up at space and actually seeing things that hadn’t been seen before.
I love giving talks, whether they are at conferences or at schools!
But I hope my highlight will be my PhD at the end of this year *fingers crossedMATOMO_URL
There are many! I definitely think going to Japan and presenting my work, and being complimented by the head of the nuclear physics group in Tokyo – it was definitely a great honour.
hmm… well if we arranged a trip to CERN I could get us in & arrange some tours and things… but who would pay for flights & accommodation??
Students can actually organise with their schools to go to visit CERN – although now the LHC is running you can’t go down and see that, but there are heaps of other things to see.
I think if you just go yourself the tours book up pretty quickly but let me know if you really do want to arrange something & I’ll use my contacts 🙂

Suzie – can you arrange a trip to CERN for all of us? (The students can come too if they want!). I really want to go to the LHC.
