A good question! There are two answers to this. The furthest away from the Earth humans have been is around the dark side of the moon, which is about quarter of a million miles away. Astronauts in the international space station however orbits the Earth in 90 minutes, so it orbits 16 times a day! In 60 days, an astronaut in the space station will have travelled one million miles!

During the Apollo 13 mission, when disaster struck and the crew had to return to Earth with little fuel, they were as far from the Earth as anyone has ever been – over a quarter of a million miles. This happened as they did a slingshot around the Moon and were on the far side.

      PS – Apollo 13 movie = awesome!

The furthest a human has ever gone is the Moon! This is approx. 356,334 km from Earth. There are astronauts on board the Internation Space Station, orbiting at only approx. 300 km from Earth!
