Science is not my first career. I went to Uni in my 30s. Before that I was in the British Army.

Right now I don’t know much about the other scientists so I can’t really comment on what makes me different from them….
Generally in my field of work I am different because I’m a girl, and quite young too (well, I still get ID’d anyway!). Also not many British-Indian girls seem to be in the space industry so I guess I am different in that way.
      I’m really short too…so I stick out a lot! 🙂

Well I don’t personally know the other scientists so can’t say for sure! At a guess, what makes me different is that I didn’t know I wanted to be a scientist until I was half way through university! I didn’t even like physics at school… But once I realised that science doesn’t have all the answers I got more interested… that’s how I ended up doing research.

A really tricky question! I’m probably different to the other scientists because my research is very diverse – I am a nuclear physicist, who looks at reactions important to astronomy and astrophysics, but I am also a detector scientist who needs to know lots about how equipment works, as well as a computer scientist who needs to know a lot about computer programming so I can write software to use with my detectors – it also means I have a large number of different contacts who are engineers and programmers…not just scientists!
I’ve also got an awesome Stetson hat – I bet the other scientists don’t have one!
