• Question: Why can't mixed breed animals reproduce?

      I didn’t know that was the case, I’d have to look this up to answer it, let me know if you want me to as it seems interesting, but it’s totally not my area of science!

      You know what…I don’t actually know! I think what happens is that babies born from two different breed animals doesn’t develop as they would if they were a single breed – I think that sometimes effects the sperm and egg production when they mature, so they become infertile.

      I think it is something to do with genes and chromosomes.

      I think something that is the baby of a mix of breeds does not have a even number of chromosomes which stops them from being able to breed because it stops the production of sperm or eggs.
